Tikohi Sauvignon Blanc 2018
Mouthwatering and exhilarating: that’s what you’re in for with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, aka, New Zealand’s greatest contribution to the world of wine. Here’s an exclusive taste from Phil Rose, a Lifetime Achievement Award winner and wine pioneer, who helped lay the foundation for the ‘Golden Mile’ (the vineyard strip) more than 30 years ago.
‘Tikohi,’ a Maori word for ‘togetherness,’ references the tight-knit family culture you’ll get at Phil’s Wairau River Estate (and the harmonious wine you’ll get in the glass). Then there’s the critics on the international awards circuit – they’re certainly ‘together’ in their admiration for this stunning white. Last vintage, top New Zealand critic Sam Kim awarded it 90 points (plus 4.5 out of 5 stars) and raved:
“Ripe, fragrant and inviting, the bouquet shows white stone fruit, crunchy apple, rockmelon [cantaloupe] and lime zest aromas, leading to a tasty palate that is filled with youthful fruit flavors. The wine is classically expressed and lingering, and offers excellent drinking.”
