Crafted by local star (and Italian Pinot Grigio supremo) Giuseppe Secchi, Sentiero dei Pini scooped a gold medal from prestigious wine guide, Gilbert & Gaillard. But that’s not the only reason you need to get some of this on your table ...
The wine takes its name from a very special site that was once home to an ancient Roman temple, approached via a spectacular spiraling path lined with pine trees (‘Sentiero dei Pini’ means ‘trail of the pines’). The hill also provided a perfect vantage point for advancing Roman legions, as their last point of call before heading deep into the mountain terrain. Today, this precious plot is occupied by carefully tended Pinot Grigio vines that yield whites as fresh as an alpine stream. And Giuseppe has first pick of the grapes.
Back over to Gilbert & Gaillard on what to expect in the glass: “Elegant nose of citrus and stone fruits, flowery touches, and spice. Lively on the tongue, with persistent, chiseled aromatics, lemon, grapefruit, very good all-round focus.”
