Gold Medal - 2015 CH
China Wine & Spirits Awards (CWSA)
Gold Medal - 2016 CN
The Schroeder family have been braving the elements in Argentina’s deep south since 1927, regularly winning golds and 90-plus Wine Advocate scores for wines “that master sommeliers should love.” The latest impressive notches in their belts? Gold at Europe’s extremely competitive Mondial des Pinots in 2015 and a prestigious gold from the 2016 China Wine and Spirits Awards.
Key to the Schroeders’ decades of success (aside from genuine skill and dedication to quality) – the Patagonian climate. Patagonia is home to some of the world’s southernmost vineyards, where icy Antarctic breezes and intense sunlight conspire to produce tiny, thick-skinned Pinot grapes – and wines that are much richer and riper than their French counterparts.
Here, you can look forward to red berry fruit, edged with warm oak and coffee. Try chilling very lightly in your fridge for about 15 minutes – this helps to brighten up the flavors and gives the wine a really refreshing character. Then serve with duck, pork or meaty fish like salmon.
