Odd One Out Petite Sirah 2018
Our California expert, Clare Tooley, loves to explore off-the-beaten-path vineyards in search of truly special sites. Recently, she traveled to Lodi, “one of the top wine regions in the country,” where winemakers “have quietly started producing some of the state’s best wines” (vinepair.com). And she found something very exciting ...
Clare discovered a rare, cane-pruned vineyard. Cane pruning is a growing style that requires careful vine tending and grape selection, so it’s only used by the most attentive growers and in the best growing conditions. Tucked off the beaten path, this odd vineyard was filled with Petite Sirah, a red grape that’s been unfairly overlooked for more famous varieties. But one sip of the grower’s wine, and Clare knew you had to taste it too.
Named Odd One Out for its unique origins, this luscious red overflows with rich black fruit and sweet spice characters. A treat on its own or served with barbecued meats, hearty pastas, stews, and more.
