Momtazi Family Estate Pinot Noir 2015

When you sip this charming Oregon Pinot Noir, you’re not just enjoying an exceptionally crafted wine. You’re also experiencing a true taste of the American dream made reality.

Winemaker Moe Momtazi and his wife, Flora, fled Iran during the revolution (and subsequent outlawing of alcohol) and immigrated to the U.S. Moe started work as a civil engineer, but it wasn’t enough. Winemaking is in Moe’s blood – his grandfather grew grapes and his father crafted homemade wine in the family’s basement. A decade later, Moe finally achieved his dream of owning a winery and planting vineyards … and the results have been phenomenal.

Today, the Momtazi family estate is among the most renowned properties in Oregon’s premium Willamette Valley. The grapes for this gorgeous Pinot Noir were grown during the stellar 2015 vintage and hand-harvested from the 100% biodynamic Maysara Vineyard. This site yields such quality fruit that other wineries buy from it to produce their top cuvées.

Patient aging in fine French oak barrels completes the picture and imparts sandalwood spice notes to the lusciously ripe, red-berry flavors. With its soft tannins and velvety, fruit-driven finish, this elegant Pinot Noir will be enjoyable on its own or with a variety of dishes (we suggest lamb shanks or roasted duck).
