The Fernández de Manzanos family have been making prize-winning Rioja wines at their small estate for over 120 years. Today, brothers Victor and David (los hermanos) are making quite a name for themselves with silky, modern-style Reservas like this one. In fact, the judges at the 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards were so impressed, they rated this one 92 points:

“Meaty and savoury on the nose with touches of candy cherry and raspberry. The palate is refined and elegant with a vibrant acidity.”

In other words – it's delicious. And with good reason.

In the sub-appellation of Rioja Baja, scorching daytime temperatures and cool nights yield grapes with a seriously ripe, luscious character. Victor and David went straight to their family’s gnarled, old Tempranillo vines (and added a healthy slug of Garnacha for spicy raspberry character). And thanks to 18 long months in American oak, you can also expect mellow notes of vanilla and toasted coconut.

This is exactly the kind of wine you’ll want on your dinner table alongside slow-roasted lamb, herb-encrusted pork loin, or a variety of tasty tapas (we like albondigas, spicy mini meatballs).
