Le Prince de Courthezon Chateauneuf du Pape 2016

Iconic Châteauneuf is one of France’s richest, most sought-after red wines. And thanks to a string of excellent recent vintages, there’s never been a better time to secure your own taste.

Our friend Thierry Ferlay is something of a Rhône virtuoso: his Châteauneufs have a long history of racking up major acclaim, with golds, trophies and critical praise from the likes of prestigious French wine guide Gilbert & Gaillard, Master of Wine Jancis Robinson and top shows like the International Wine Challenge (where judges raved about a past vintage’s “vibrant blackberry and tobacco notes with sweet spiciness and a fresh finish”). Well, wait until you taste the 2014, his most recent (and highly anticipated) release.

Le Prince draws its award-winning, complex flavors from carefully selected grapes that were harvested by hand from Thierry’s favorite vineyards. In the glass, it has all the classic Châteauneuf characters that fans look for: deep bramble fruit and wild thyme aromas, with flavors of velvety dark berries, ripe cherry and subtle, spicy pepper on the finish. Lovely balance of ripe fruit and bright acidity, with a tantalizingly long finish – an ideal red to serve at a special dinner, whether you’re entertaining or enjoying a quiet night at home.
