Kiss Malbec 2017
Legendary rock gods KISS are known for trailblazing their way from the 1970s through the modern era with their over-the-top, theatrical performances, iconic makeup, and head-banging rock anthems. We think Malbec – the now-famous red grape that just wouldn’t settle for mediocrity in its native France – is a kindred spirit of the band.
Usually a big star in Argentina, Malbec is now coming Alive in special corners of California, as this gorgeous example proves. It hails from Paso Robles – called “one of California’s most dynamic regions” by Wine Spectator’s Tim Fish – and the stellar 2017 vintage, which produced seriously ripe grapes with intensely concentrated flavors.
With its deep, dark color, this gem will shine like a Black Diamond in your glass. Look forward to juicy plum and black cherry characters, plus hints of smoky spice and irresistible, velvety tannins. You’ll want to Lick It Up with a big steak (Malbec’s classic match), or try it with roasted pork, toasted farro risotto, and more.
