Heredad Chavarri Albariño 2020
Award Winner
Gilbert & Gaillard International Competition
Gold – 2021
You may recognize Ruth Chavarri’s name – she’s the talented, fifth-generation winemaker behind some of our most popular Rioja reds. But Ruth’s actually a bigger fan of refreshing whites – so when her family recently invested in Rías Baixas (on Spain’s northwest coast … it’s the place for Albariño), she jumped at the opportunity to make a lovely Albariño.
This super-fresh release was cool-fermented – a fancy winemaking process which locks in intense aromas, like the intriguing floral and herbal notes you’ll notice here. The wine then rested on its lees for nine months before bottling, producing more tropical aromas and flavors, wrapped around a smooth texture. No wonder it won a gold medal from Gilbert & Gaillard judges.
The wine is intensely crisp and aromatic. You may even detect a faint salty tang, a trademark of Albariño. A perfect seafood white.
