Duca di Cardino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2016

Named for the town of Montepulciano, made with the noble Sangiovese grape and aged an extra-long 24 months, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Tuscany’s greatest reds. It’s from the Barbanera family, makers of some of our most popular Tuscan reds. “Duca di Cardino” is the nickname of Barbanera family’s ancestor Orazio, who famously became known as “The Duke of Artichokes” for defeating Florentine invaders on a field filled with the spiky vegetables. “Generations later I strive to make wines fit for a Duke and this Vino Nobile would, I believe, make Orazio proud,” says the masterful Marco Barbanera. We think you’ll agree. Prime-sited vineyards and long hours of sunshine; the long aging period, and Marco’s careful hand have all helped to shape this royally delicious wine.

Look forward to classic aromas of black cherry, tobacco and leather, with balanced flavors of red and black fruit, roast coffee and dark chocolate. If time allows, decant this fine red, then enjoy with a hearty Italian dinner.
