Don Cayetano Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Especial 2019

Descorchados Wine Guide
90pts – 2021

Pure-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon is a Chilean specialty. The finest come from the premium Colchagua Valley, like this acclaimed, barrel-aged Reserva made by Luis Felipe Edwards (a two-time Producer of the Year at the world’s largest wine competition).
The pure delights of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon are well known. Most are made in a young-and-juicy style, but some—like this stunner from one of the country’s leading estates—are matured in barrel for an even richer, toastier flair.

Not only was Luis Felipe Edwards recently honored as the New World Producer of the Year at the Sommelier Wine Awards, he was also awarded the Chilean Producer of the Year title by judges at the AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge (the largest officially recognized wine competition in the world) in both 2012 and 2013. That’s high praise, indeed.

The secret behind his Reserva’s sensational quality is the painstaking care taken in his Colchagua Valley vineyards. He uses only the most intensely ripe grapes (a tiny proportion of the crop) and meticulously hand picks them, making sure that only the best of the bunch—pun intended—are brought back to the winery. The results of all this labor speak for themselves…

This Cabernet Reserva boasts 90 points from prestigious wine guide Descorchados. Look forward to classic notes of ripe black currant, plum, and subtle mint leaf and baking spices on the nose and palate, with a long, vibrant finish. This is a great accompaniment to grilled steaks, rack of lamb, or strongly flavored cheeses.
