Critics across the globe are raving about Bordeaux’s glorious 2018 vintage. As Bloomberg reports, “the best wines are exceptional: concentrated, layered, velvet- and silk-textured, pure and succulent.” There are plenty of great wines and great values to be had, and we’ve found both in Château Reignac de Tizac.
The Motut family have made world-class wines at Château Reignac de Tizac for five generations. This is their flagship release, crafted with estate-grown Merlot from their prized old vines. These gnarled heirlooms produce precious few grapes, but the fruit they do yield is seriously concentrated and flavorful – especially in a near-perfect growing season like 2018 offered.
The proof is in the awards cabinet. Château Reignac de Tizac boasts three gold medals – two from top French competitions and one from prestigious guide Gilbert & Gaillard. Judges raved, “Stellar quality fruit on the nose with suggestions of ripe cherry. The palate displays the same intensity and aromatic qualities ... harmonious.”
A food wine par excellence, this fine Merlot will delight with lamb chops, duck confit, mature cheeses, and more.
