Château de Colombe Rosé 2017
Everyone knows the rich, age-worthy reds of Bordeaux. But many top winemakers in the region also love crafting rosé – fresh-fruited, mouthwatering and meant to be enjoyed in its juicy youth. These premium pinks are something of a local secret, as they’re usually given to neighbors and friends who are lucky enough to live in Bordeaux. But as our customer, you get special access to these sorts of rare finds: yours is a wonderfully fresh 2017 that comes from Parker-praised winemaker, Henry Laithwaite.
Château de Colombe is a relatively new venture for the Laithwaite family, who purchased the estate in 2012. It’s located in the region of Castillon (next-door to Saint-Emilion), which is a top spot for savvy Bordeaux fans seeking Premier Grand Cru Classé quality at a friendlier price.
Henry knew Château de Colombe’s old-vine (and very low-yielding) Cabernet and Merlot grapes would make “a cracking rosé,” as he put it. The results were so delicious, it became a BIG hit – and now, back by very popular demand, Château de Colombe is ready to impress. Harvesting in the cool of early morning followed by a cold fermentation locked in mouthfuls of vibrant strawberry and cherry flavor, highlighted by notes of savory herbs.
