Nineteenth-century Château Canet is one of the leading domains in southern France’s Minervois region. Its 100+ acres of vines are ringed by olive groves, pine forests, and more farmland. While the estate’s surroundings are enchanting, the wines are even more so – especially in 2017, which was a great (but painfully low-yielding) vintage across France.
Proprietor Floris Lemstra knew his ancient Syrah and Grenache vines had helped him produce something really special. And so far, critics have resoundingly agreed: his Family Réserve won a gold medal from the prestigious Gilbert & Gaillard guide. And you get exclusive access (lucky devils).
Partially oak aged, Château Canet is a classic Minervois beauty, offering up mouthwatering black and red raspberry notes with hints of wild herbs and spice. Floris is rightfully proud of his oh-so-smooth handiwork, so he only agreed to send us a limited amount of cases. If you’re looking for a perfect red to serve with hearty stews or juicy, flame-grilled steaks.
