Califia Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

A tribute to the mythical warrior queen who gave California its name, this is a sumptuous find every Cab fan needs to try …

Califia is an exclusive for our customers, crafted by 30-vintage veteran and former Paso Robles Winemaker of the Year Clay Brock. We’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of this former San Fransisco gold medalist – and as expected, it’s every bit as delicious as its award-winning predecessors.

Clay sourced the grapes from prime-sited vineyards throughout Lodi and Paso Robles (Wine Enthusiast’s 2015 and 2013 Regions of the Year, respectively) – both of which produced standout harvests in 2016. After night-harvesting the grapes to lock in freshness, Clay gave the wine a luxurious, 16-month slumber in fine French and American oak barrels to impart further complexity to the lush, dark-fruit flavors.

In the glass, Califia bursts with ripe blueberry, blackberry and cherry, plus hints of chocolatey spice, thanks to the barrel aging. While it’s drinking deliciously now (especially when served with rosemary-roasted beef ribs or spicy chorizo), the aromas and flavors will continue to develop for a few more years.
