Alessandro Gallici Pinot Grigio 2020

92 Points – 2017 IT
Pinot Grigio has taken the U.S. by storm in recent years, challenging Chardonnay as the No. 1 white. If you’re talking the ultimate guest-greeting, light-sipping wine, there really is nothing more refreshing.
For the best, we head to Pinot Grigio’s spiritual home: the cool, mountain-ringed vineyards of Venezie, in northern Italy. We get our fix (and yours) from maestro Alessandro Gallici, who has a passion for crafting pure, invigorating Pinot Grigio. And this stunner is better than ever, thanks to the exceptional 2016 vintage. (Top critic Luca Maroni agrees – he rated it 92 points!)
As you’ll taste, Alessandro manages to capture the grape’s every perfumed, peach-filled nuance. Deliciously crisp, with a tingly minerality we’d almost liken to fine Chablis, this wine makes an elegant dinner party aperitivo. Or, pair it with fresh fish and vegetarian dishes – all the better if they offer an Italian flair. Try lemon-basil calamari or white pizza with arugula and Gorgonzola.
