Silver Medal – 2018 GB

Malbec thrives in Argentina, where it makes “powerfully smooth, deeply fruited wines full of spice and character … the best in the world” (The Independent). This exclusive Gran Selección was crafted by the Zuccardi family, aged 10 months in oak barrels, and proudly sports 91 points and a silver medal at the 2018 International Wine Challenge.

Originally from Italy, the Zuccardis are among the great movers and shakers of Argentine wine. Alberto started the winery in 1963, which is run today by his son José and grandson Sebastián. The Wine Advocate call the clan "one of the top names in Argentine wine" and they consistently win big accolades at the world’s top wine shows – like their back-to-back trophies at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Over to IWC judges on what to expect in the glass: “juicy blue fruit with concentrated dark fruit flavors and hints of cinnamon, cloves, toast and spice. A powerful, long finish.”

This is the ultimate pairing for red meat – especially steak. Locally, they’d enjoy Alambrado with a tender flank steak marinated in chimichurri (a spicy, oil- and vinegar-based garlic and green herb sauce), but it will be delicious with whichever cut you choose.
