Alambrado Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Award Winner

International Wine & Spirit Competition
Bronze Medal - 2017 GB

“Argentine Cabernet is something of a hidden gem and it’s now poised to join Malbec at center stage,” says top international critic Andrew Catchpole. In the hands of the Zuccardi family, Cabernet hits new heights, thanks to the exceptional quality of the grapes and the skills of chief winemaker Rubén Ruffo. Past vintages have scooped major awards, including a double-gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition: A Woman’s Choice – just wait until you taste the equally impressive 2016.

Rubén and his team hand harvest the grapes from premium vineyards in the Mendoza region, including the high Uco Valley, described as “the most exciting part of Mendoza from a fine wine lover’s point of view” in Hugh Johnson’s The World Atlas of Wine. The grapes grow on the family’s famed parral trellised vines, which protects them from the hot sun, while helping them ripen to perfection.

After a second hand-sorting (which ensures only the deepest-colored, perfect grapes go into Alambrado) and then fermentation, Rubén treats the wine to 10 months in French oak barrels. In other words, Alambrado is made with the same care and attention to detail as some of the world’s finest wines.

In the glass, this rich Cabernet delivers refined aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum and subtle vanilla. The soft touch of oak lingers through the chocolaty finish. All of the above make this an ideal partner for juicy steaks, grilled burgers, ribs and sausages.
